Some projects are special not just because of their craftsmanship but because of the personal touches that make them truly one of a kind. This traditional-style entry door, installed in Vaughan, is a perfect example—featuring custom metalwork with the homeowner’s initials. You know a home is being renovated as a “forever house” when the details are this personal!
This was a fun project to design and fabricate, from the initial sketches to the CNC-cut metal grills. After cutting, we added a few decorative details with MIG welding, giving the final piece more depth and character. Interestingly, I haven’t had as many projects requiring ornamental metalwork lately, since the shift toward modern entry door designs has leaned more on minimalist aesthetics.
But trends evolve, and I already have some ideas in mind for future projects that will let me get back to welding a bit more. Because while sleek, modern designs have their appeal, there’s something special about a classic door with intricate metal detailing—it adds a sense of history and craftsmanship that never goes out of style.
For now, I’m just happy to have worked on this one and to have helped create something truly unique for this home.
