If you’ve spent any time reading the news or scrolling through social media, you’ve probably come across a few stories that make your stomach turn—homeowners getting scammed by shady contractors, rushed builds falling apart days after closing, or families losing their savings to projects that were never completed. Sadly, those stories aren’t rare.
But here’s the thing: That’s not the whole story. Not every builder is out there cutting corners or chasing the quickest buck. In fact, I’ve been incredibly lucky over the years to work with some of the best people in the construction industry—teams that are honest, dedicated, and genuinely passionate about the homes they’re building. And recently, I had the chance to be part of one of those rare, great collaborations.
These twin custom homes by @elev8tedbuilds in Toronto were exactly the kind of project that reminds me why I love doing what I do.
From the very beginning, the process was smooth and collaborative. We worked closely with the builder to sort out design concepts, technical specs, and the little intricacies that go into making a custom fiberglass door system feel like a seamless part of the home. Nothing was rushed, nothing was slapped together—every decision felt intentional, and every detail was thought through. You could tell they were building with care, not just for aesthetics, but for long-term performance and durability.
It wasn’t just about installing doors—it was about being part of a team that really cares. The folks at Elev8ted Builds weren’t just trying to meet the standard—they were trying to raise it. And as someone who also takes a lot of pride in what I do, that kind of mindset makes all the difference.
And no, before you ask—this isn’t a paid plug or a marketing post 😂. I just believe that when people do great work, they deserve a little recognition. It’s easy to talk about the problems in the industry, but it’s just as important to highlight the people who are doing it right.
The photos I snapped were taken right after installation, right in the middle of the project. So while they give you a glimpse of the progress, they don’t even come close to showing the full transformation. For the real beauty shots—the kind that make you stop scrolling—head over to @elev8tedbuilds on Instagram and check out the final results. You’ll see what I mean.
To Elev8ted Builds—thank you for bringing us in, for trusting us with the details, and for building homes the right way. Looking forward to the next one already.
