Every door we install tells a unique story, and this custom fiberglass door in Mississauga was no exception. Designed for a beautiful custom home, this project showcased the perfect blend of functionality and modern aesthetics while presenting some truly unique challenges along the way.
A Unique Design with Complex Features
This door wasn’t just about looks—it featured a combination of a sleek pull bar handle, a multipoint lock system with a re-worked knobset, and an intricate external metal grill. While these elements worked beautifully together in concept, aligning everything and making it function seamlessly proved to be quite the puzzle.
Problem-Solving and Custom Fabrication
The installation process presented several hurdles, starting with the lock mechanism, which was much stiffer than anticipated. To ensure smooth operation, we reworked the springs within the lock mechanism, allowing for a softer and more user-friendly feel.
The second challenge involved the compatibility of the pull bar handle with the external metal grill. The standard offset for the pull bar interfered with the grill, making it difficult to operate comfortably. To resolve this, we fabricated a custom set of offsets for the exterior of the door, ensuring the pull bar handle was easy to grab and functional without clashing with the grill’s design.
Every aspect of this door required a level of precision and problem-solving that took the project to new heights. From fitting the individual components to ensuring the system worked flawlessly, every detail was carefully considered.
