A Bold Red Fiberglass Entry Door – A Look Back at a Challenging Project

A Bold Red Fiberglass Entry Door – A Look Back at a Challenging Project

Some projects leave a lasting impression—not just because of the craftsmanship involved but because of the journey it took to complete them. This vibrant red fiberglass entry door was the very last door I installed before wrapping up the winter season back in 2020, and looking back, it’s a perfect metaphor for the challenges, unexpected hurdles, and valuable lessons that came with that year.

A Simple Door with Unexpected Challenges

On the surface, this project seemed straightforward—installing a bold, beautifully finished fiberglass entry door that would add curb appeal and durability to my client’s home. But as with many jobs completed during the pre-holiday rush, it turned out to be more complicated than expected.

From production delays to a tight installation schedule, everything about this project tested my patience. And just when I thought I was in the clear, a small misstep off a ladder had me crashing onto a metal planter, messing up my leg. It was a close call—I was lucky not to have taken a much worse fall over the railing.

Gratitude for Great Clients

Despite the challenges, what stood out most wasn’t the difficulties but the unwavering support from my clients. Throughout that season, dealing with delays and production hiccups was a constant struggle. The stress of telling another homeowner that their project was running late weighed heavily on me. No one likes feeling like they’re letting people down, especially when they take pride in their work.

But what truly made a difference was the incredible understanding I received from my clients. Even after my accident forced me to take a couple of unexpected days off, I spent that time reaching out to every client to update them personally. The amount of kindness, patience, and encouragement I received was overwhelming. It was a powerful reminder that while not every job goes as planned, the relationships built along the way are what truly matter.

A Door That Still Stands Out

Beyond the lessons learned, the finished door itself is something special. The bold red fiberglass entry door created a striking contrast against the home’s brick exterior, making a statement while offering the durability and low maintenance that fiberglass doors are known for. It’s a color choice that exudes confidence, and I loved how it completely transformed the entryway.

Even looking at it years later, it’s still one of those projects that sticks with me—not just for the final result but for everything it represented at the time.

Looking Back, Moving Forward

This project, completed all those years ago, was one of those defining moments in my career. It tested my patience, my resilience, and my ability to push through challenges. But it also reminded me why I do what I do—the satisfaction of seeing a project come together, the relationships built with amazing clients, and the lessons that stick with you long after the work is done.

As I reflect on this install from the past, I’m grateful for how far things have come. The industry has evolved, I’ve grown as a craftsman, and the projects I take on now continue to push me in new and exciting ways. But no matter how much time passes, the lessons from jobs like this one remain.

Here’s to another season of creating doors that are as strong and resilient as the homeowners who choose them!
